Tigers' Meadows hospitalized after outfield crash with Greene
Detroit Tigers center fielder Parker Meadows spent the night in a hospital after colliding with left fielder Riley Greene during the eighth inning Thursday against the Minnesota Twins. The head-on crash occurred on a shallow fly ball to left-center hit by Josh Bell at Target Field in Minneapolis on April 9, 2026. Meadows, bloodied from the mouth and diagnosed with a concussion, walked off under assistance before being carted away.
Greene made the catch as Meadows lay on the ground. Their caps flew off in the impact. "It's a terrible feeling. I still feel terrible," Greene said after the game. "He hit my head. I don't know where I hit him, to be honest, but I just really hope he's OK."
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch joined medical staff on the field. "We’re going to get him checked out for everything, but this one worries me," Hinch said. MLB.com reported Meadows would remain hospitalized for observation overnight. Bell had homered once and singled twice earlier in the game.
Meadows has started 11 of the Tigers' 13 games this season, batting .250 with two extra-base hits. He went 0 for 3 in the 3-1 loss.
