Liberty's Cloud condemns Trump's Easter Iran threat
New York Liberty guard Natasha Cloud criticized President Donald Trump on Sunday for posting a threat against Iran on Easter morning. Cloud, a WNBA champion, wrote on Threads that a president claiming to be a God-fearing man should not threaten to bomb Iran's infrastructure on the holiday. She argued such actions contradict Christian values, noting Jesus was murdered by governing authorities for defying their law.
Cloud referenced the U.S. federal definition of terrorism as the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government or civilians for political objectives. Trump had posted on Truth Social warning that Tuesday would target Iran's power plants and bridges unless the Strait of Hormuz reopens. His message read: "Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F----n’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah."
Cloud has previously criticized the Trump administration over its use of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. Nearly three years ago, she feuded with former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom after calling the U.S. "trash" ahead of the Fourth of July.
Trump plans an update Monday on the U.S. military operation in Iran, which he says nears completion. A Tuesday deadline looms for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, potentially deciding if conflict de-escalates or intensifies.
