Conor McAneney, a freshman kicker for the Florida State Seminoles, was arrested early Thursday morning, March 13, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, after an alleged altercation with law enforcement officers.[1][2]
McAneney faces two third-degree felony charges—battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence—and one misdemeanor count of trespassing, according to Broward County Sheriff's Office records.[1][2] Bond was set at $2,000 for the battery charge, $500 for resisting with violence, and $250 for trespassing.[1]
Florida State has suspended McAneney indefinitely from all team activities, a school source told 247Sports.[1] The university is on spring break, with practices paused and scheduled to resume on March 20.[1][2]
McAneney, a native of Ireland, transferred to Florida State from Quincy University, an NCAA Division II program in Illinois, ahead of the 2025 season.[3] In 2024 at Quincy, he converted 7 of 10 field-goal attempts, with a long of 45 yards.[4]
The Seminoles, members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, finished the 2024 season with a 2-10 record.[5]
