Dennis Rodman, a five-time NBA champion with the Detroit Pistons (1989-1990) and Chicago Bulls (1996-1998) who was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011,[1] has been announced for the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2025.[2]
WWE revealed the news on its November 1, 2024, episode of Friday Night SmackDown. The induction ceremony will take place during WrestleMania 41 week at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, with the event scheduled for April 19-20, 2025.[2][3]
Rodman joins other announced Class of 2025 inductees: former WWE Champion AJ Styles, Stephanie McMahon and the tag team Demolition.[2]
Rodman crossed over into professional wrestling with World Championship Wrestling in the late 1990s, aligning with the New World Order faction and Hulk Hogan. He competed in a high-profile tag-team match at WCW Bash at the Beach on July 12, 1998, at Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida, partnering with Hogan against Diamond Dallas Page and NBA player Karl Malone.[4]
Ahead of the 1998 NBA Finals between the Bulls and Utah Jazz, Rodman was fined $100,000 by the Bulls for skipping practice on May 31 to appear on WCW Monday Nitro.[5]
Rodman has never competed in a WWE ring, though WWE has previously inducted athletes into its celebrity wing, including baseball's Pete Rose (2004), NFL's William "Refrigerator" Perry (2006), Mr. T (2005), broadcaster Bob Uecker (2018) and Donald Trump (2013).[2]
